2019-21 Active Residents
The table below displays the number of MD-PhD dual-degree program graduates from U.S. MD-granting schools in residency programs, by specialty, for years 2019 through 2021. The data for total active residents are also limited to graduates from U.S. MD-granting schools. For example, 16 of 221 total active residents in Allergy and Immunology programs in 2019 graduated with a dual MD-PhD degree from a U.S. MD-granting school. Counts shown for specialties do not include counts for the related subspecialties. Please contact residentreport@aamc.org with any comments or questions.
Selected Finding: In the most recent year (2021), 3.3% of all active residents who are graduates of U.S. MD-granting schools were MD-PhD graduates.
