GIA Awards for Excellence


Information

The annual AAMC GIA Awards for Excellence recognize outstanding work by members of the Group on Institutional Advancement and their staff members.

The awards acknowledge the most creative and effective approaches used to promote academic medicine in the United States through alumni, communications, development, marketing, and public affairs programs, and products. Awards are bestowed as the Award for Excellence, the GIA's highest honor, or as an Honorable Mention. Award-winning work provides a resource for GIA members. Winners are recognized at the AAMC National Professional Development Conference for Institutional Advancement in the spring.

The Call for Entries is announced each fall. Submitted entries are judged by GIA members in the following categories:

  • Publications: Single or Special Issue; External Audience Periodicals; Internal Audience Periodicals; Electronic Publications
  • Electronic Communications: Audio and Video; Websites; Social Media; Mobile and Apps
  • Robert G. Fenley Writing Awards: Basic Science Staff Writing; General Staff Writing; Solicited Articles
  • Special Projects, Programs, or Campaigns: Alumni Relations; Communications; Development; Public Affairs/Community Relations; Marketing; Integrated Advancement
  • Special Events: Alumni Relations; Communications; Development; Public Affairs/Community Relations; Marketing; Integrated Advancement
