Stanford Surgery Cubes is an ongoing video series inspired by the 90s show MTV Cribs. Each episode takes viewers inside the cubicle of someone in the Department of Surgery at Stanford Medicine. It's the only place where you can get a tour of your favorite colleague’s desk and be jealous of everything they have! Take a look at their tricked-out keyboards, mini-fridges, and crocheted human organs.
What was the most impactful part of your entry?
I am exhilarated by the reach and impact of this series. “I need to up my Cube game” has become a common phrase around the department. The biggest moment came when I was at a Disability Staff Forum get-together. Someone was talking about how the latest episode of Cubes featured a staff member showing off her fidget, not knowing I was the creator. This woman wasn’t part of the Department of Surgery or even the School of Medicine, she was a scientist at SLAC.
What is one thing you learned from your entry/experience?
I’ve learned so much about AI producing this series. I use AI to create transcripts of every episode and AI uses those transcripts to write a first draft of the accompanying article. I also used AI to help storyboard before my first episode and even do the voiceover for the trailer.
