Table B4. MD-PhD Residents, by GME Specialty

New section

2016-18 Active Residents

The table below displays the number of MD-PhD dual-degree program graduates from U.S. MD-granting schools in residency programs, by specialty, for years 2016 through 2018. The data for total active residents are also limited to graduates from U.S. MD-granting schools. For example, 15 of 212 total active residents in allergy and immunology programs in 2016 graduated with a dual MD-PhD degree from a U.S. MD-granting school. Counts shown for specialties do not include counts for the related subspecialties. Please contact residentreport@aamc.org with any comments or questions.

Selected Finding: In the most recent year (2018), 3.4% of all active residents who are graduates of U.S. MD-granting schools were MD-PhD graduates.
