Sept. 9: Senate VA Committee Hearing
10 a.m.; 216 Hart Senate Office Building, Washington, D.C.
The Senate Veterans’ Affairs (VA) Committee will hold a hearing on the findings of an investigation into the VA medical center at Phoenix. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert McDonald is scheduled to testify.

Sept. 9: House Energy and Commerce 21st Century Cures Initiative Hearing on LDTs
9:30 a.m.; 2322 Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, D.C.
The House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee will hold a hearing to examine the regulation of Laboratory Developed Tests (LDTs) as part of its 21st Century Cures initiative.

Sept. 10: House Subcommittee Hearing on ACA Implementation
10 a.m.; 1100 Longworth House Office Building, Washington, D.C.
The House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee will hold a hearing on the status of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) implementation.

Sept. 10: House Energy and Commerce 21st Century Cures Initiative Roundtable
10 a.m.; 2123 Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, D.C.
The House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee will hold roundtable discussion about opportunities to accelerate the discovery, development, and delivery of new cures and treatments. Participants include: Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Matthews Burwell; National Institutes of Health Director Francis Collins, M.D., Ph.D.; Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Margaret Hamburg, M.D.; and University of Colorado Cancer Center Director Dan Theodorescu, M.D., Ph.D.

Sept. 10: HIT Standards Committee Meeting
10 a.m.; Webinar/Teleconference
The Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health Information Technology (HIT) Standards Committee will meet via webinar/teleconference to discuss standards implementation specifications and certification criteria for the electronic exchange of health information.

Sept. 11-12: MedPAC Meeting
Time: TBA; 1300 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C.
The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) will hold a public meeting. When available, MedPAC will solicit comments on the agenda via its website.

Sept. 12: COGME Meeting
9:30 a.m.; Webinar/Teleconference
The Council on Graduate Medical Education (COGME) will meet via webinar/teleconference. The meeting will include a discussion about the council’s 22nd Report to Congress as well as a brief update on the council’s current status. A full agenda will be posted on the COGME website when it is available.
