On The Hill...

Montana Gov. Steve Bullock announced Feb. 7 that Lt. Gov. John Walsh, a Democrat, will be appointed to fill the Senate seat being vacated by Max Baucus for the remainder of 2014.  Sen. Baucus, who was confirmed as ambassador to China on Feb. 6, had earlier announced he would not seek reelection in November.

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Feb. 4 welcomed Alicia Fernandez, M.D., as the newest member of its Board of Governors.  Dr. Fernandez is a professor of clinical medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, and attending physician at San Francisco General Hospital.  She was named by the U.S. Comptroller General to fill the seat vacated by UCLA’s Eugene Washington, M.D., one of the seven board slots representing healthcare providers.
