July 9: HIT Policy Meeting

The Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) Health Information Technology (HIT) Policy Committee will meet via webinar to discuss recommendations to the National Coordinator for Health IT on a policy framework for the development and adoption of a nationwide health information infrastructure, including standards for the exchange of patient medical information.

July 9: PCORI Webinar on CER Survey Results

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) will host a webinar to present the results of a survey of patients and clinicians assessing views on comparative effective research (CER) and engagement in research.

July 10-11: SACHRP Meeting

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Human Research Protections (SACHRP) will meet July 10 and 11. Agenda items include remarks from Dr. Howard Koh, M.D., M.P.H., assistant secretary for health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, clustered randomized trials and informed consent, and certificates of confidentiality, among other items.

July 9, 11: Senate to Mark Up FY 2014 Labor-HHS Spending Bill

The Senate Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS) Appropriations Subcommittee is expected to mark up draft legislation providing FY 2014 appropriations for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and other departments and agencies under its jurisdiction. The full committee markup is expected to be held July 11.
