On the Hill…

Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee Republicans Jan. 22 officially elected Sen. Lamar Alexander (Tenn.) as the Ranking Member of the full committee.  Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) announced his decision to remain chair of the committee Dec. 19, noting his commitment to ensuring “the successful implementation of the Affordable Care Act, including the Prevention and Public Health title.”  Neither party has announced subcommittee assignments. 

House Democratic Appropriators announced subcommittee assignments Jan. 23, shortly following the majority’s announcement Jan. 15.

The House Education and Workforce Committee held a Jan. 22 organizational meeting and adopted Republican and Democratic subcommittee assignments. 

House VA Committee Ranking Member Mike Michaud (D-ME) Jan. 17 announced the Democrats’ leadership team and subcommittee assignments for the 113th Congress. The House VA Committee majority had announced their subcommittee leadership on Dec. 20, but has yet to announce subcommittee assignments.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee announced subcommittee assignments at a Jan. 22 meeting, including the Subcommittee on Health.
