AHRQ Director to Step Down

Secretary of Health and Human Services Sylvia Burwell Feb. 24 announced that Richard Kronick, Ph.D., will step down as Director of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) in March to return to the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Kronick was first appointed as AHRQ director in August 2013, after serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation at the Department of Health and Human Services.

Secretary Burwell also announced that Sharon B. Arnold, Ph.D., will serve as Acting Director. Dr. Arnold is currently Deputy Director of the agency, and previously directed the Payment Policy and Financial Management Group at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
