VSLO® Institution Resources
Visit the VSLO® Institution Resources webpage to find important program materials. The VSLO Program Marketing Toolkit provides all VSLO branding and identification resources in one place. You will also find the current VSLO Handbook for Institutions. This ready reference document guides institutional users in program management and provides resources for advising your medical students in use of the VSLO software in their selection of learning opportunities that achieve their personal and career goals.
A majority of DO-granting institutions and their medical students participate in the VSLO program. The AAMC and AACOM maintain a contractual agreement that provides access to the VSLO service as well as other AAMC programs. Participating DO schools can choose, along with their Home institutional role, to become Host institutions. Additionally, Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (COMs) can elect to participate in the VSLO Global Network.
Contact us with any questions you may have about these opportunities.
Showcase Your Institution’s URiM Opportunities for Visiting Students
The VSLO program is eager to help institutions highlight opportunities for students underrepresented in medicine (URiM) in an easily accessible, centralized location on our student website. Please fill out this form to submit specific URiM opportunities. To ensure we are providing students with the most up-to-date information, please note that all postings will expire on August 31, 2022. Submitted opportunities will be made available on the VSLO program’s VSLO® for Students page of the AAMC’s students and residents website. We also strongly encourage you to list these opportunities in the VSLO application service.
The Visiting Student Learning Opportunities™ (VSLO®) team has provided easy access to valuable resources to help you support your students through the application process. We hope these resources will assist as you counsel your students in applying smarter, developing an effective away rotation application strategy, and more easily submitting their applications in the VSLO application service.
Job Aids and Templates for the VSLO System
The VSLO software enhancements are now live, and you will see a new look and feel when you log into the system. As a reminder, the updates are primarily to the look and feel and do not impact the core functionality of the VSLO software processes and workflows. If you haven’t yet, we encourage you to take a look at this short video and the VSLO Application Service Job Aid. These resources highlight the changes you will see and will support you as you explore this visual upgrade. If you have any questions, please contact the VSLO Client Technical Support Team or call 202-478-9878.
Resources for Host and Home institution administrators on institution management, student management, and application processing can be found here, including information on managing roles, uploading student rosters, inviting students, releasing applications, and more. Prospective institutions can join live VSLO software demonstrations and current users can register for training webinars on our Demonstrations and Training page.
