2016 GIR Medical School IT Survey Data File

The data file from the 2016 GIR Medical School IT Survey is available to the over 80 percent member medical schools who participated in the survey. The annual survey gathers information on leadership, financing, staffing, technologies and emerging trends to provide members with a baseline to view their organization over time and serve as a directory of application trends. To inquire about accessing the data from the GIR survey, please contact girsurvey@aamc.org.


2014 GIR Medical School IT Survey Summary

A core goal of the Group on Information Resources (GIR) is to assist AAMC members with understanding how information technology and resources are organized and utilized in medical schools. The annual GIR Medical School IT Survey gathers information on leadership, financing, staffing, technologies and emerging trends to provide members with a baseline to view their organization over time and serve as a directory of application trends. This summary contain results from the 2014 survey on IT leadership and governance, services, staffing, financing, and types of technologies used. 132 AAMC member medical schools participated in the 2014 edition of the survey.


Learning Management Systems 2013 Work Group Report

A learning management system (LMS) is a system that acts as a repository for educational course content, assesses knowledge (through use of assessment tools), and tracks individual learner or employee performance with the goal of identifying the progression toward organizational goals. This guide, updated for 2013, covers some of the most important elements of an LMS as they relate to medical schools.


Medical Simulation in Medical Education: A 2011 AAMC Survey

The AAMC (Association of American Medical Colleges), working jointly with the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), the Association for Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE), and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) developed a survey to better understand how medical schools and teaching hospitals are using simulation for education and assessment and determine the operational impact of simulation at AAMC-member institutions. The purpose of the survey was to assess the current state of simulation in medical education by defining how and where institutions are using simulation for academic purposes.
