Group on Institutional Planning (GIP)
The primary mission of the AAMC’s Group on Institutional Planning (GIP) is to advance the discipline of planning in academic medicine by enhancing the skills and knowledge of professional planners, promote the value of planning, and connect people, resources, and ideas.

Leadership and Committees
The Steering Committee sets policies for the Group on Institutional Planning and manages the group's affairs. GIP members may join one of the three GIP subcommittees on facilities planning and space management; strategic planning and management; or data-driven academic medical centers work group.

The GIP membership is comprised of a diverse group of over 500 leaders responsible for all aspects of institutional planning. GIP members must be appointed by his or her medical school dean or teaching hospital CEO. Learn more about GIP membership.
