Guide to the Group on Faculty Practice
The Group on Faculty Practice (GFP) is composed of physician leaders and administrative executives from medical school-affiliated faculty practice plans. The GFP works to advance the clinical mission of academic medical centers.
Members can be appointed to the GFP by the medical school dean or by the hospital or health system senior executive to whom the practice plan leadership has a direct reporting relationship.
Medical school deans or hospital/health system senior executives may appoint up to four GFP representatives: at least one physician leader involved in governance/leadership of the faculty practice plan; and one senior executive, non-physician leader from the practice plan's administrative operation. Two additional appointments (both physician and non-physician) can be made to the GFP.
All active GFP members are subscribed to the member listserv when they establish an email address with the AAMC. It provides GFP members with an avenue to pose questions to their peers and receive updates on key issues from the AAMC. Information regarding the GFP meetings and webinars are also sent to members via listserv. If you have questions for the listserv, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Membership is open to individuals at AAMC member institutions. Membership benefits include opportunities for networking and in-depth peer-to-peer learning.
Professional Development Opportunities
AAMC Chief Medical Officers Group and Group on Faculty Practice Joint Meeting
March 26-27, 2020
AAMC Learning Center
With a rapidly changing health care landscape, constant advances in technology, and a growing diverse population, the roles of leaders at academic medical centers (AMCs) are transforming. Join chief medical officers (CMO) and faculty practice leaders (GFP) for this unique professional development opportunity to network, discuss, and share best practices on the most salient issues facing academic institutions. We encourage the team of the physician leader and administrative executive of the practice to attend together, as well as other senior leaders who would benefit from this meeting.
Meet the leaders of the Group on Faculty Practice and learn about governing bodies such as boards, committees, task forces, and working groups.
