    Faculty Roster

    This database (sign in required) generates tables on the annual distribution of U.S. medical school faculty by department, school, rank, ethnicity, degree, gender, primary specialty, and tenure status. The trend data include gender and ethnicity of U.S. medical school faculty, U.S. medical school faculty members by degree and department; and tenure status of U.S. medical school faculty members by degree and department.     Faculty Salary Survey Reports

    The online and paper publications are available for purchase through the AAMC Store (individuals affiliated with a member institution or organization are eligible for discounted pricing). The publications available for purchase include 33 tables that display total compensation in a variety of ways, such as by degree, rank, department/specialty, region, and school ownership. Deans, Principal Business Officers, and their select designees, as the individuals responsible for providing the survey data, have access to the online publication as well as online custom report generators. Your Principal Business Officer’s permission is needed to access these custom report generators because of the confidential nature of the data.


    (AAMC Member Sign-In Required) The Faculty Administrative Management Online User System (FAMOUS) is a Web-based report writing tool that enables users to view aggregate reports on medical school faculty members and chairs, using data from the AAMC Faculty Roster. There are many institution-specific and national reports that can be generated, such as retention reports, promotion reports, alumni reports, department reports, rank reports, demographic reports, and educational reports.

    Medical School Profile System (MSPS)

    (AAMC Member Sign-In Required) MSPS is an AAMC-supported database that houses descriptive data reported by U.S. medical schools. MSPS enables users to view and create benchmark reports for medical schools on revenues, faculty and student counts, financial aid, and tuition and fees. The primary source of the data is the LCME annual surveys.

    Organizational Characteristics Database

    (AAMC Member Sign-In Required) This database shows institutional-level data about each medical school and its affiliated teaching hospitals, including the relationship of the medical school to its parent university, the ownership of the integrated hospitals and the legal structure of the practice plans.     Evolution of Faculty Affairs Article Published in Academic Medicine

    How have faculty affairs and faculty development offices grown in the last ten years? The "Evolution of Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development Offices in U.S. Medical Schools: A 10-Year Follow-up Survey" is now available as an ahead-of-print electronic publication on the Academic Medicine website. The authors hope that the information obtained will assist existing and new medical schools determine the optimal roles, responsibilities and distribution of effort for their own offices of faculty affairs.
