Conversations That Matter
Conversations That Matter is an initiative developed by the GFA Communications Committee designed to encourage discussion and bring together different perspectives and experiences in an effort to explore topics affecting the GFA community.
After two years of in-person discussions held at the annual GFA Professional Development Conference, the GFA Communications Committee offered this initiative as a webinar. The first Conversations That Matter webinar, “Faculty Affairs in a New Era: Adaptive Approaches to Engagement, Retention, and Collaboration,” was designed using the World Café dialogue model, engaging attendees in dynamic discussions on critical issues in academic medicine allowing for exploration of strategies for proactive adaptation. Attendees exchanged resources, insights, and solutions on key issues impacting academic health care today. Two key questions were explored: (1) How can academic medical centers proactively influence or adapt to shifting regulations and funding landscapes? And (2) What resources have been helpful and how have your institutions developed a resilient workforce of faculty and staff that can thrive amid ongoing changes?
Through this virtual discussion, the GFA Communications Committee identified key themes and actionable insights (PDF) that will serve as an outline to inform some of the committee’s initiatives moving forward.
