Sept. 23: PCORI Board of Governors Meeting

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) will hold its Board of Governors meeting in Washington, D.C. The meeting is open to the public and will be available via teleconference and webinar.

Sept. 24: NIH Council of Councils Meeting
8:30 a.m.; 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, Md.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Council of Councils will meet to discuss updates from the Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives (DPCPSI) and the establishment of a working group on the NIH Common Fund, among other items. The council advises the NIH director and acts as an external advisory panel to the NIH Institute and Centers (IC) directors.

Sept. 24: Senate Hearing on Health Care Associated Infections
10 a.m.; 430 Dirksen Senate Office Building, Washington, D.C.
The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee will hold a hearing on efforts to reduce health care associated infections.

Sept. 24: Briefing Celebrating 50 Years of Health Profession Workforce Programs
12 p.m.; 2168 Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, D.C.
The AAMC-led Health Professions and Nursing Education Coalition (HPNEC) will hold a luncheon briefing entitled, "Celebrating 50 Years of Health Professions Workforce Programs." On the 50th anniversary of their enactment, this briefing will discuss how HRSA's health professions programs continue to help the health care workforce adapt to meet the nation's changing health care needs, as well as how the relatively modest federal investment in the programs yields tremendous dividends for the communities they serve.
