On the Hill…

August 9, 2013—Rep. Rodney Alexander (R-La.) announced that he will resign effective Sept. 26. Citing political gridlock as his reason for leaving, he stated, “Rather than producing tangible solutions to better this nation, partisan posturing has created a legislative standstill. Unfortunately, I do not foresee this environment to change anytime soon.” Rep. Alexander was elected to Congress in 2000 and serves on the House Labor-HHS Appropriations Subcommittee. He was appointed by Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-La.) to serve as Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs. A special election to fill the unexpired term is scheduled for Oct. 19.
