On the Hill

Rep. Todd Platts (R-Pa.) Jan. 17 announced he will not seek reelection in 2012 in an effort to honor his long-standing belief that members of Congress should not serve longer than a 12-year term. Rep Platts represents the 19th district of Pennsylvania, and serves on the Education and Workforce and Armed Services Committees and chairs the Oversight and Government Reform Government Organization, Efficiency and Financial Management Subcommittee. Rep. Platts also serves as the Republican co-chair of the Congressional Taskforce on Tobacco and Health and the Congressional Brain Injury Task Force.

Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-N.Y.) Jan. 19 also announced he will not seek reelection in 2012 ending 20 years of service in the House of Representatives. Rep Hinchey represents the 22nd congressional district of New York, and serves on the House Appropriations and Joint Economic Committees.
