The GBA HR Interest Group is a network of human resource professionals who broadly share ideas, challenges, best practices, and development opportunities.
Specific Goals and Activities:
- Contributing to a biannual newsletter to update Principal Business Officers on important/relevant HR current affairs
- Participating on quarterly calls and on the GBA HR listserv
- Assisting with ideas for and the delivery of potential webinars and toolkits
- Submitting HR-related topics for breakout sessions at the GBA/GIP Spring Meeting; participating in Hot Topics Discussion Forums

AAMC Co-Sponsored Webinar: GBA Human Resources Interest Group and GFA
In an effort to maximize resources the Medical College of Wisconsin transitioned its Office of Faculty Affairs to a more strategic partnership with the Office of Human Resources in early 2010. The AAMC presented a Webinar hosted by the Medical College of Wisconsin that chronicles the lessons learned in developing the partnership at MCW as-well-as an overview of the organizational benefits and potential challenges.

The GBA-Human Resources listserv is open to all GBA members with a particular interest in human resources.
Faculty Affairs Listserv
The Faculty Affairs Listserv includes topics such as faculty appointments, tenure, promotions, tuition benefits for faculty, sabbaticals for faculty in clinical departments and faculty misconduct. This listserv is a useful method of communication for medical school professionals with responsibility for faculty affairs policies and faculty development issues.
Institutional Policy Search Tool
This database enables staff at AAMC-member medical schools to find and compare institutional policies on a wide variety of important topics such as: governance and bylaws; faculty policies such as appointment and tenure; research policies such as conflict of interest; and business policies such as patenting and intellectual property.
