The theme for this year's meeting will be:
Shifting Gears: preparing today for tomorrow’s practice environment
With societal changes along with technology and data as a catalysts, the future environment of medicine and medical education is rapidly changing. Our students, staff and faculty must shift their attention from preparing our learners for health care as it is today to what it will be when our graduates enter practice.
What do you see as likely significant future changes in health care by 2020 and how will these changes affect the roles of regional medical campuses in training students and providing patient care? As we anticipate this future landscape we are calling for proposals in medical education addressing shifts in patient care models and shifting patient demographics and knowledge bases, professional identity formation, interprofessional teams, shifts in curricula and educational delivery models, faculty development, and institutional change.
High response rate achieved with Regional Medical Campus Survey Pilot
With an outstanding response rate of more than 98%, we thank all U.S. and Canadian medical schools that participated in the 2013 AAMC Regional Medical Campus Survey. This was the first year that we had asked to collect data to establish a definitive database about regional medical campuses across North America.
