The annual AAMC Report on the Compensation of Medical School Deans presents dean compensation by medical school characteristics and by deans' gender and deans' race/ethnicity. Deans of participating medical schools receive complimentary access to the full report, which includes the compensation data of medical school deans by dean responsibilities and additional characteristics.
The full report is available for download on the Medical School Profile System’s “Compensation” tab at https://systems.aamc.org/mspsreports/ for participating deans.
In addition, Tables 1, 1a, and 1b of the AAMC Report on the Compensation of Medical School Deans, which contains compensation data for deans at all medical schools, deans at all medical schools by gender, and deans at all medical schools by race/ethnicity, can be accessed below.
When interpreting the Report on the Compensation of Medical School Deans data, please consider the following:
- The report data include permanent deans as well as interim deans. If an individual is a dean at more than one medical school, the survey response for the individual’s permanent dean appointment will be included in the analysis.
- The report data do not account for how long a person may have held a role (i.e., time in position) and its potential impact on compensation.
- The analysis only includes what is considered to be usable compensation data. For example, total compensation data reported represent only those individuals for whom all components of total compensation (not including additional income) were reported.
