Data and Research

highlight1_thumb

We know that data, research, and evaluation are critical to your work in identifying and selecting the students who are the best fit for your institution. We also recognize the importance of keeping the community informed on upcoming research projects and ideas.  This page provides a centralized location for AAMC admissions-related data and research to support you as you in that work.

  • AAMC FACTS - FACTS tables offer frequently requested data on medical school applicants, matriculants, graduates, and more.

  • MCAT Data and Research - MCAT research focuses on evaluating diversity and fairness, academic preparation, predicting students’ academic performance in medical school, and the use of MCAT scores in admissions decision making.

  • AAMC Analysis in Brief - Analysis in Brief presents recent findings from the AAMC's data collection and research activities in a concise, easy-to-read report. Published several times a year, it addresses a wide range of topics and trends that affect medical schools and teaching hospitals.

  • Situational Judgment Test Research - The AAMC is currently exploring the use of a Situational Judgment Test (SJT) to assess medical school applicants on inter- and intrapersonal competencies. SJT research intends to explore the psychometric properties and operational feasibility of implementing this type of test in a medical school setting.

AMCAS School Tools include Admissions Processing (AP), AP Setup, Data Transmission Options, and School and National Reports.
