May 2021
It’s hard to believe that it has been over a year since we have been living in this new COVID landscape. Indeed, it has been an extremely difficult time for medical students. Much of this year has been dictated by navigating the uncertainty of the coming match cycle as well as our own conferences. As past chair, I have had the opportunity to extoll the necessity of Integrated Student Affairs, working with my now former GSA steering committee colleagues to produce a post-LSL session earlier this year. With the prior match cycle concluded, I spoke to the student's perspective on virtual interviewing at the GSA/OSR Spring meeting during a panel session. With the support of the administrative board, I organized the selection of our newest OSR Liaisons as well as the AAMC-appointed Student Representative. I look forward to working with these OSRs as they become assimilated in their roles and providing support to the other chairs and members of the administrative board. I continue to be optimistic about a return to normalcy on the horizon. I could not be more proud of the resiliency demonstrated by students and am honored to have you as colleagues in medicine. As always, please feel free to reach out if you have questions or comments.
