Chief Medical Officers’ (CMO) Leadership Academy
This 15-month executive training program defines the role, responsibilities, and influence of the CMO as a high-functioning member of the C-suite. Designed by teaching hospital and health system CMOs, this program uses a blended learning approach that combines peer learning, paired mentors, independent project work and face-to-face and virtual meetings to cover administrative and leadership topics that are critical to CMOs’ success.
The AAMC CMO Leadership Academy was specifically designed for CMOs in their first four years of the position, and senior physician leaders preparing to assume the role in the next one to three years. Participants will develop and enhance their administrative knowledge and leadership skills to successfully meet the demands of the role.
Note: The next Academy class will start in January 2022. The application period will be open in early Fall. More details will be announced later.

Every spring, the CMOG meets with the Group on Faculty Practice (GFP). Meeting with other chief medical officers as well as practice plan executives will provide you with unique opportunities for networking and to explore issues of mutual concern. At our 2021 meeting, we had interactive and thought-provoking discussions on important topics such as the new administration and Medicaid, different approaches to the evolving role of the chair, and improving health care access for all.
The 2022 meeting is scheduled for March 10-11 at the AAMC headquarters in Washington, DC. If you have any questions about the meeting, please contact email@example.com.
