GSA Committee on Student Affairs (GSA-COSA)

July 2015

The GSA-COSA has identified several areas of interest, specifically related to residency and the match. The two most prominent and pertinent to the OSR are as follows:

Parallel Plans
We are continuing to develop two documents for fourth year students who are either not successful in the match or who are delaying graduation for a year. The ultimate goal of each is to help students further their professional development and be successful in the match the following year. Each guide is for students and student affairs advisors to reference and lists the pros and cons of different options available to students in each of these situations.

Student Affairs Toolkit and Webinar for Match Success
This document provides faculty advisors with an overview of their role complete with tools, tips and important national dates to pay attention to for the match process. This resource is not meant to be a training session. It is a guide for advisors to start with and then tailor their own advising process depending on their school-specific information. The document also provides resources that advisors can reference if they want further information beyond what is provided.

If you have questions, comments or recommendations concerning either of the above updates or GSA-COSA in general, please feel free to contact me.
