GDI National Priorities

GDI has three national priorities. Each priority has short- and long-term goals, which are being developed via the GDI membership and cross-group collaborations.

Diversity and Inclusion in Faculty

Short Term

  • Identify GDI data needs and define a comprehensive data set
  • Integrate issues unique to underrepresented groups in medicine and biomedical sciences (UGMBS) faculty into the Group on Faculty Affairs (GFA) New Member Toolkit

Long Term

  • Develop a GDI toolkit on UGMBS faculty for our academic institutions
  • Develop an academic medicine pipeline program/activities for UGMBS to enhance the diversity in our faculty workforce

Diversity and Inclusion in Graduate Medical Education (GME)

Short Term

  • Addressing learner mistreatment

Long Term

  • Develop collaborations with other professional development groups to address learner mistreatment

Diversity and Inclusion in Professional Development/Institutional Climate

Short Term

  • Provide professional development in collaboration with other AAMC Professional Development Groups
  • Add Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) issues and concerns to national agenda at all levels
  • Present GDI's definition of diversity and inclusion to all AAMC memberships, organizations, and senior administration

Long Term

  • Develop a GDI Orientation Guide for the GDI Steering Committee and GDI members
  • Continuous campaign to empower and engage GDI membership
