Figure 17 displays the distribution of full-time faculty by sex, race/ethnicity, and rank. Male full-time faculty at the professor level were the majority across each racial/ethnic group. At both the associate and assistant professor levels, males were the majority of full-time faculty among all racial/ethnic groups except Black or African American full-time faculty. At the associate professor level, 48.5% of Black or African American full-time faculty were male and 51.5% were female. In comparison, at the assistant professor level, 39.0% of Black or African American full-time faculty were male and 61.0% were female.
