From the admissions office to the clinical learning environment, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools has led to new opportunities as well as questions around best practices and responsible use.

The AAMC is committed to supporting and leading the advancement of AI in academic medicine, with a focus on fair access and ethical use. This work is focused on three main pillars: providing opportunities for you to learn and network with colleagues and experts, sharing critical resources to guide your use of AI tools in medical education and admissions, and leading key collaborations across the global health professions education community.

Key Initiatives

AI Competencies Across the Learning Continuum

With support from the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation, the AAMC is developing national competencies for AI in medical education. This effort will help ensure that learners across the continuum receive essential training in AI fundamentals, including ethical and legal considerations, and are prepared to work collaboratively in technology-driven health care settings.
