Through interactions built on trust, mutual respect, cultural humility, and mutual benefit, medical schools and teaching hospitals work with communities on activities that include community-based service learning, community-engaged research, and community-driven health services delivery.

2023 NEXT Grantees Named for Initiatives Focused on Advancing Health Equity
The AAMC has named the recipients of the 2023 Nurturing Experiences for Tomorrow’s Community Leaders (NEXT) Grant. Five institutions were selected to receive $40,000 each over two years to support initiatives for medical students and residents to confront racism and advance health equity in partnership with local communities.
