LGBT Health Care Advocacy in Academic Medicine

    Video Length: 28 minutes

In this video, Kristen L. Eckstrand, MD, PhD, interviews Carl G. Streed, MD and Ed Callahan, PhD, on the opportunities available for members of the academic medicine to engage in LGBT health care advocacy at the institutional, local, and national levels. During this conversation, they discuss the need for explicit action in order to address the historic silence around LGBT health in academic medicine, how taking action can help mitigate health disparities faced by gender and sexual minorities, and how LGBT health care advocacy efforts across different residency programs can help provide care to our nation's increasingly diverse population.
