Video Length: 1 hour, 30 minutes
Presentation Materials: Slide Deck
Description:
Medical schools face a variety of challenges in creating safe, welcoming and nurturing environments for sexual and gender minority students, including those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or gender nonconforming. Realizing that each institution’s context is unique, this webinar will provide an overview of methods and resources institutional leaders can use to improve the climate at their institution for students of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and forms of gender expression. This webinar was jointly sponsored by the AAMC Group on Student Affairs and the AAMC Advisory Committee on Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Sex Development.
Learning Objectives:
This session aims to empower leaders to ensure LGBT diversity and inclusion by:
- Describe a framework for institutional commitment to sexual and gender minority (LGBTQ+) students.
- Discuss the necessary institutional portfolio of programs and resources to support the success of LGBTQ+ students and improve campus climate for diversity.
- Identify the unique growth opportunities and resources to advance LGBTQ+ priorities at your institutions.
