Medicine@Brown is the alumni magazine of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. It is published three times a year and distributed to alumni; faculty; parents of medical students; staff; and key local partners.
What was the most impactful part of your award-winning entry?
The best part of creating this magazine is receiving letters from alumni that say things like “I loved your story on X … I’m so proud of my alma mater.”
What is one thing you learned from this experience?
Since the pandemic began, we’ve produced three issues of the magazine on time with no disruptions. We learned that with a good team and a solid structure, you can handle anything the world throws at you.
What challenges did you overcome?
We’ve overcome a budget crisis, public health restrictions, and missing content due to illness among contributors. Many times we felt it would be completely legitimate to put the magazine on pause while we dealt with enormous challenges, but we persevered.
