For the launch of The NEXT 150 | The Campaign for Maine Medical Center (MMC), our goal focused on creating a distinctively memorable virtual public launch event that would allow our guests to feel valued, informed, and confident in MMC; motivate them to act by donating, telling others, and meeting with our leadership gift officers; and understand how important MMC is to our community and state and that expansion and modernization of facilities is essential. It was imperative to create a virtual experience as engaging, interactive, and informative as an in-person event. Our solution led us to collaborate with new technologies and expert storytelling to inspire our community. Key elements of our virtual event included an immersive program with a celebrity emcee, opportunities for guests to engage with clinical leaders, a virtual reality tour of the new construction, and opportunities to celebrate and explore MMC’s history. The unique and engaging virtual venue provided a social outlet and elevated relationships with care providers and the community. We exceeded our goals, resulting in a successful campaign public launch event.
What was the most impactful part of your award-winning entry?
Through innovation and creativity, the virtual event platform offered strong branding and personalization, generating a high level of enthusiasm from all involved. Our ability to reach and inspire diverse constituency groups led to an increase in partnerships and monetary support.
What challenge did you overcome?
Initially, due to its high-tech user requirements, it was risky to use the virtual event platform. However, through detailed how-to instructions (print and digital) and pre-event platform trainings, participants had a meaningful experience leading to a successful campaign public launch.
