Active Residents, 2015-17

The table below displays the number of MD-PhD dual-degree program graduates from U.S. MD-granting medical schools in residency programs, by specialty, for years 2015 through 2017. The data for total active residents are also limited to graduates from U.S. MD-granting medical schools. For example, 16 of 210 total active residents in allergy and immunology programs in 2015 graduated with a dual MD-PhD degree from a U.S. MD-granting medical school. Counts shown for specialties do not include counts for the related subspecialties. Please contact residentreport@aamc.org with any comments or questions.

Selected Finding: In the most recent year (2017), 3.4% of all active residents who are graduates of U.S. MD-granting medical schools were MD-PhD graduates.
