GBA/GIP Virtual Programming: 10 Steps to Starting, Refining, or Refreshing Your Strategy Office

Defining the role of a strategy office or team is imperative to preparing for the future of academic medicine. During this webinar sponsored by the Group on Business Affairs (GBA) and the Group on Institutional Planning (GIP), participants gained practical knowledge to establish, refine, or refresh a strategy office or team. This webinar drew on the experiences of University of South Florida Health and Johns Hopkins Medicine, each with unique strategy offices. Presenters shared a 10-step process covering topics, such as using generative AI to support office planning, developing a purpose statement, identifying strategy services, selecting a change management model, developing an operational budget, identifying team roles, and prioritizing strategic initiatives. Participants walked away with tools and templates to successfully plan for a strategy office or refresh/refine existing strategic operations.
