University of Mississippi Medical Center Annual Report

The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) first published an annual report in 2019. The purpose of the report is to celebrate the annual accomplishments of the state’s only academic medical center in all three mission areas of education, research, and patient care. This information is designed to inform all our constituencies of the work done here on campus and around the state, as UMMC is a major economic driver for the state. We train most of the state’s health care workforce, and we are the state’s safety net hospital, meaning we take care of the sickest patients, many of whom are uninsured. Also, many of our stakeholders are not as well versed in our research mission, so the annual report is a great opportunity to share our achievements in that area.

What was the most impactful part of your entry?
The most impactful part of the first report was the response from employees, particularly from our alumni engagement and development offices. They requested additional copies of the report to share with alumni and donors.

    What challenge did you overcome?
The challenge in producing an annual report is the gathering of information from different departments. We rely on partnerships with our different departments to produce accurate and timely information, which requires coordination and careful planning to meet necessary deadlines.
