    Anthony Fauci, MD, plans to retire by the end of President Biden’s term in Jan. 2025, reported the Associated Press. Dr. Fauci has served as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984, and has led research in HIV/AIDS, respiratory infections, Ebola, Zika, and COVID-19. During these last two years, Dr. Fauci has been the public face of the United States’ response to the coronavirus.

    Mary-Ann Bjornsti, PhD, has been named president-elect of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB). Dr. Bjornsti, chair of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, previously served as vice president for science policy at FASEB. Several FASEB-member societies are also members of CFAS.

    The Thomas Jefferson University Board of Trustees has appointed Mark Tykocinski, MD, as the next president of Thomas Jefferson University, effective July 1. Dr. Tykocinski is currently a member of the Administrative Board of the AAMC Council of Deans. Dr. Tykocinski and Jefferson Health president Bruce Meyer, MD, will report directly to a new CEO of the Jefferson enterprise, who is expected to be selected and named later this summer, reported Citybiz in Philadelphia.

Dr. Olson is a critical care and family physician and a clinical assistant professor of emergency medicine at UND SMHS. In the role, Dr. Olson will develop and meet curriculum goals and objectives, provide resources for volunteer and clinical faculty, and serves as a student advocate.

Dr. Suttle is chief quality officer for the West Virginia University Health System and previously served as the chief medical officer of Sanford Health.

Dr. Angus also serves as a CFAS school representative from UConn and is a member of the CFAS Administrative Board.
