The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA) released a July 1 request for proposal (RFP) for the Pilot Program on Graduate Medical Education and Residency (PPGMER), a GME funding opportunity authorized under the Maintaining Systems and Strengthening Integral Outside Networks Act of 2018 (MISSION, P.L. 115-182). The MISSION Act authorizes the VA to fund no fewer than 100 resident positions at non-VA-covered facilities, with priority given to clinical health care facilities operated by the Indian Health Service, Indian Tribes, or Tribal Organizations. Other covered facilities that may participate are health care facilities located in a VA-designated underserved area, federally qualified health centers, and those operated by the Department of Defense.

The VA will host two informational sessions on July 25 and Aug. 21 for sponsoring institutions interested in responding to the PPGMER RFP. Signup for the webinars is located within the RFP.
