Senate Budget Committee Democrats announced a $3.5 trillion agreement as part of the chamber’s FY 2022 budget resolution on July 13. The agreement would allow Democrats to use the reconciliation process to advance a large legislative package later this year that is expected to include many of President Biden’s and Democrats’ priorities, such as health care and family services. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) stated that Democrats would need to come to an agreement by next week on the details of the budget resolution to ensure it passes both the House and Senate before lawmakers depart Washington for August recess.
