The Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC)  met  Dec. 12-13. The commissioners discussed a variety of topics including the Contract Year (CY) 2026 Medicare Advantage (MA) and Part D Policy and Technical Changes proposed rule [refer to Washington Highlights, Dec. 6] and the 2024 MACStats report.

During MACPAC’s Thursday session, commissioners reviewed and discussed proposals of interest for potential comment from the proposed rule. They focused on three main areas, including mandatory coverage of GLP-1 drugs in Medicare Part D plans and Medicaid plans, integrated care for dually eligible individuals, and access to cost sharing tools. Following a review of the proposals, commissioners agreed that MACPAC should prepare comments in response to these proposals with a focus on supporting integration for those who are dually eligible. Lastly, in MACPAC’s Friday session, commissioners reviewed highlights from the 2024 edition of MACStats, covering key statistics on Medicaid enrollment, spending, and utilization.
