    HHS Announces AI and Behavioral Health Project Funding Opportunity

    The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, announced on May 13 a Leading Edge Acceleration Projects in Health Information Technology funding opportunity for fiscal year 2024. The grant, NAP-AX-22-001, provides up to $1 million in funding for two projects that address two specific areas: (1) to “develop innovative ways to evaluate and improve the quality of health care data used by artificial intelligence (AI) tools in health care” and (2) to accelerate adoption of health IT in behavioral health.” The first area focuses on scalable solutions to improve quality of health care data and the second on enhancing health IT capabilities and care coordination between behavioral health and clinical care settings. Applications are due July 12.
