The AAMC on Dec. 28 submitted comments to the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Research Integrity (ORI) in response to the agency’s notice of proposed rulemaking to revise the Public Health Service Policies on Research Misconduct (42 CFR part 93). The AAMC’s comments acknowledged the need for the revision of the regulations since they were issued in 2005 but raised concerns that the drafted revisions “reflect missed opportunities to make more substantial changes that would improve the process for all participants.”
The AAMC previously submitted a response to the ORI’s 2022 request for information seeking comment on how the office should improve or revise the 2005 rules [refer to Washington Highlights, Nov. 4, 2022].
