On October 20, the AAMC responded to a September 26 request for information (RFI) issued by Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee Ranking Member Bill Cassidy, MD, (R-La.). Cassidy issued the RFI seeking feedback on “how the CDC can better coordinate with stakeholders, more effectively modernize public health data, and improve core public health activities, such as epidemiology, training programs, and its global health portfolio.”
In its response, the AAMC reiterated the importance of ongoing investments in public health. The letter also provided different recommendations to modernize public health data systems. The AAMC also urged Congress to work together to reauthorize programs under the Pandemic All-Hazards and Preparedness Act (PAHPA) and pass the Public Health Infrastructure Saves Lives Act (S.1995).
