Formally established in 1966, the Council of Academic Societies (CAS) provided official representation in the Association for almost every clinical and basic science discipline. CAS was comprised of “persons identified with the classical medical school departmental disciplines.”
On July 1, 2013, CAS ended and the Council of Faculty and Academic Societies (CFAS) was established in its place.
