Graduate Medical Education Group Leadership

Nomination Details

The AAMC will invite self-nominations for the Graduate Medical Education Group Steering Committee annually. The Steering Committee provides leadership for the group and, in collaboration with the AAMC affinity group staff lead, helps shape the group’s strategic priorities and annual professional development opportunities.

All Graduate Medical Education Group members are encouraged to apply for any appropriate Steering Committee seat that aligns with their role, interest, and expertise. Early in the calendar year, all group members will receive notification of the open Steering Committee positions. Steering Committee members serve a two-year term, staggered among the six members-at-large, with an option to serve a second term if approved by the Nominations Committee.

The Steering Committee is comprised of:

  • One chair (one-year term).
  • One chair-elect (one-year term).
  • One immediate past chair (one-year term).
  • Six members-at-large with the following roles:
    • Graduate Medical Education Group Award Committee chair.
    • Institutional GME Leadership Competencies Committee chair.
    • Member Engagement and Communication Committee chair.
    • Nonphysician Education Administrator Community lead.
    • Survey and Data Benchmarking Committee Chair.
    • Member-at-large.

The Steering Committee shall also have one liaison from the Council of Deans and one liaison from the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Academic Affiliations.
