Faculty and Staff Vitality Group Membership and Benefits
The Faculty and Staff Vitality Group is a national community of faculty and professional staff across academic medicine committed to connection, shared learning, and advancing the success of the academic workforce. We welcome individuals at all career stages interested in strengthening engagement, professional growth, and workplace practices that support thriving faculty and staff.
This community brings together diverse perspectives to explore practical approaches to career development, leadership, workplace effectiveness, and well-being. Through collaboration and shared insight, members contribute to shaping resources, programming, and conversations that reflect the evolving needs of academic medicine.
Faculty and Staff Vitality Group members engage through Communities of Practice (CoPs) —collaborative spaces centered around shared interests and areas of focus. These communities provide opportunities to:
- Connect with peers across institutions.
- Exchange ideas, tools, and promising practices.
- Contribute to programming such as webinars, discussions, and resource development.

Standing Committees
Faculty and Staff Vitality Group Steering Committee
The Faculty and Staff Vitality Group Steering Committee provides strategic leadership and guidance for the Faculty and Staff Vitality Group, helping to shape priorities, support member engagement, and ensure alignment across the CoPs. The committee is responsible for advancing initiatives that reflect the evolving needs of faculty and professional staff across academic medicine.
The Steering Committee is composed of three officers (chair, chair-elect, and immediate past chair) and six members-at-large who also serve as leaders within the CoPs. Additional liaisons may be appointed in collaboration with other AAMC groups and councils to strengthen coordination and shared efforts. The committee meets regularly throughout the year to guide planning, collaboration, and community engagement.
About Communities of Practice (CoP)
CoPs are responsible for cultivating peer learning and connection across the community. They identify shared challenges and promising practices, convene member-led discussions and learning opportunities, and develop resources that support members’ work at their institutions. Through participation, members build relationships, contribute to communitywide efforts, and help shape content and engagement for the broader Faculty and Staff Vitality Group, including the annual national meeting.
Each CoP is supported by a Steering Committee member-at-large, a co-chair, and a team of engaged members who help guide priorities, drive the work forward, and advance key initiatives across the group.
