Serving Those Who Serve America: Joining Forces: Results of an AAMC Survey

This report details the results of a survey taken by the 110 U.S. M.D.-granting medical schools participating in Joining Forces, a White House initiative to improve the lives of military service members, veterans, and their families.

AAMC Supports Joining Forces

As a part of Joining Forces, more than 100 medical schools around the country have signed a pledge recognizing the sacrifice and commitment of our military service members, veterans, and their families, and have committed to mobilize their integrated missions in education, research, and clinical care to train our nation's physicians to meet the health care needs of the military and their families.

Joining Forces Wellness Week

In recognition of Veterans Day, the AAMC—with the White House Joining Forces staff and the Center for Deployment Psychology—will host the third Joining Forces Wellness Week to heighten awareness about the health needs of the nation’s veterans, service members, and families, and elevate the role that medical schools and teaching hospitals play in serving this community. The week-long initiative will take place November 10-14, 2014, and will feature a webinar series External Link focused on military health issues. Registration will open on November 3. Join the conversation using #JFWW on Twitter.

iCollaborative Call for Submissions

In support of the Joining Forces initiative, AAMC’s iCollaborative is collecting resources that are designed to help future physicians in the treatment of our nation's military service members, veterans, and their families. Topics cover any aspect of care, from the physical to the psychological, including but not limited to the challenges faced by multiple deployments, coping with combat injuries, suicide prevention, and grief counseling.
