Member Capacity Building Programs & Services

The AAMC partners with you by offering a variety of resources and subject-matter expertise that support your organization’s sustainability and missions.

By connecting organizations with the right experts, data, and tools, we help you increase capacity and improve infrastructure, leading to sustainability and success across all missions. Areas of expertise include business operations and finances; organizational culture and change; admissions and student support services; and faculty and staff recruitment, engagement, and retention.

Through their membership, member institutions have the opportunity to participate in programs that build their organizational capacity and strengthen their organizational effectiveness, such as the Integrating Quality Initiative and the Research on Care Community.

Member institutions have the opportunity to take advantage of additional fee-for-service resources that provide customized solutions to meet an institution’s specific needs and challenges.

Accreditation Services

The Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) was founded in 1942 and, since 1965, has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as the reliable authority for the accreditation of programs of medical education leading to the M.D. degree. While the LCME is sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges and the American Medical Association, the LCME has final authority for the adoption of new or revised accreditation standards or policies, and the LCME operates independently in conducting evaluations of medical education programs and in making decisions about the accreditation status of programs, with no discussion, review, or participation by the AAMC or AMA.
