Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) and Sylvia Garcia (D-Texas) led a March 27 bipartisan letter (PDF) signed by 49 members of the House of Representatives, requesting House Appropriations Committee Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Subcommittee Chair Robert Aderholt (R-Ala.) and Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) provide $980 million for the HRSA Title VII health professions programs in fiscal year (FY) 2027. In the letter, the lawmakers outline current and future health workforce shortages and emphasize the programs’ role in supporting the next generation of health care professionals to address the nation’s evolving health care needs.
