AAMC Careers Recruitment Process: Step 1 - Application, Step 2 - Recruiter Phone Conversation, Step 3 - Manager Phone Conversation, Step 4 - Team Interview, Step 5 - Hiring Decision, Step 6 - Offer, Step 7 - Background and Reference Checks, Step 8 - Confirmed Start Date

Step 1: Apply

Begin your journey by submitting an application. All open positions, including full-time, part-time, intern, fellow, and temporary roles, are listed on our Careers page. Our candidate portal makes it easy to upload your resume and apply for multiple positions, track your applications, and explore suggested roles based on your experience.

Depending on the role, you may be asked to provide:

  • Cover letter.
  • Writing sample.
  • Skill-based assessment.
  • Presentations.

Step 2: Recruiter Phone Conversation

A recruiter will reach out to schedule a 15- to 30-minute introductory call. This conversation helps us understand your qualifications, interest in the AAMC, availability, and goals — and gives you the chance to ask questions and share your story.

Step 3: Manager Phone Conversation

You’ll speak with the hiring manager to dive deeper into the role, team dynamics, and day-to-day responsibilities. This 30-minute phone conversation helps you understand the position while allowing the manager to learn more about your skills and experience.

Step 4: Team Interview

Meet your potential colleagues in a team or panel interview. These sessions are typically a couple of hours and give both sides a chance to get to know each other. We use a behavioral-based approach to ensure fairness and allow you to share real examples of your work. Because many AAMC teams work remotely, interviews are usually virtual — accommodations are available as needed.

Step 5: Hiring Decision

Our hiring decisions are thoughtful and collaborative. Feedback from all interview participants is considered to identify candidates who are trustworthy, capable, and aligned with our mission-driven culture.

Step 6: Offer

Selected candidates receive a verbal offer followed by a written offer letter. Offers are based on market data, pay equity, and experience to ensure competitive and fair compensation.

Step 7: Background and Reference Checks

Once the offer is accepted, we conduct background and reference checks, including criminal, education, and employment verification. This typically takes one to two weeks.

Step 8: Confirmed Start Date

Your onboarding experience prepares you for success. We walk you through benefits enrollment, timekeeping, and introduce you to your team and systems to ensure a smooth transition into your new role.
